DPRK to boost its military potential, develop nuclear program

Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has said the country will boost its military potential and develop its nuclear program, while giving up talks on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

The Foreign Ministry statement has been circulated by the Korean Central News Agency.

According to the statement, Pyongyang will make moves to build up its military might that includes nuclear deterrents.

The statement was made right after the UN Security Council voted for expanding sanctions against the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

The UN Security Council passed a resolution on Tuesday denouncing the recent launch by Pyongyang of a carrier-rocket with a satellite on board, a rocket that can be armed with a nuclear warhead.

The Security Council has also extended the list of organizations and individuals in North Korea that come under the earlier slapped economic sanctions.
