By Mei Jingya, Sina English

Japan and Mongolia Wednesday held an inaugural working-level meeting between the two countries’ diplomats and defense officials in Tokyo.

The two sides reportedly made a joint assessment of China’s growing military influence and DPRK’s nuclear ambitions, and agreed to share intelligence in the future.

Present at the meeting are Masashi Yamano, Deputy Director of the Japanese Foreign Ministry’s Asian & Oceanian Affairs and Kazuo Sunaga, Deputy Director-General of the Policy Bureau of the Ministry of Defense.

Before the consultations, defense officials of the two countries also exchanged views on Japan’s humanitarian and disaster aid to Mongolia.
