Here, a woman tells us what she did with her
ivory wedding dressafter the big day.
MICHELE Duncan, 38, from Mother well, is a control operator for the fire service. She has one daughter and she separated from her husband earlier this year.
Michele has donated her ivory wedding frock to Barnardo's charity shop in Glasgow's Merchant City.
She said: "Even before my husband and I separated, I kept thinking I must do something with the wedding dress.
"We were married in 2004 in Florida and since then the dress has just sat in the cupboard.
"I suppose I could have altered it as a fun dress for my daughter or just thrown it in the bin, but that seemed such a waste.
"In the end I decided that it would be nice to give it away and let someone else get some use out of it. A friend told me about the Barnardo's charity shop in Glasgow's Merchant City which has a whole section of second-hand wedding dresses.
"The shop is gaining a reputation as a good place to hunt for a well-priced wedding dress and lots more people are apparently now buying their gowns second-hand to save money.
"There is even a story about how a woman bought one of the dresses and sent it out to an African village, where five different women wore it for their own weddings." Obviously I have no idea where my own dress will end up, but to think that it will make someone else's day special is a lovely thought.
"Even if the dress doesn't mean that much to me any more, it will hopefully mean a lot to someone who doesn't have the money to buy an expensive, brand-new dress."
