4 people reported wounded in Texas college shooting

Gunfire erupted on a Texas college Tuesday afternoon, wounding four people. One person was taken into custody and a second gunman was being sought, a U.S. official told The Associated Press.

Police cars swarmed the North Harris campus of Lone Star College. The campus went into lockdown, said Jed Young, spokesman for the college.

Aerial footage from local television stations showed police cars and ambulances parked on the campus, emergency personnel attending people on stretchers and at least person being put into an ambulance. Other people could be seen running from a building led by officers.

Four people were taken to hospitals for gunshot wounds, including one person who was critically injured, Mark Smith of the Harris County Emergency Corps told MSNBC.

At least three people - including the shooter - were reportedly shot at a Texas college Tuesday, US media reported but few details were available.

Television footage showed people lying on the ground and at least one person being loaded into an ambulance on the campus of Lone Star College near Houston.

"We know that shots have been fired and we are in a shelter-in-place situation on the campus," Vicki Cassidy, manager of media relations for Lone Star College System, told the Houston Chronicle.

"It's a pretty chaotic scene at this point in time."

The shooter was among three people wounded in the incident at the school's library, KHOU news reported.

Witnesses reported that a male was brought out of the library handcuffed to a stretcher, the station reported.

Several shot at Texas college

Officials in Houston, Texas say that several people have been shot at a local community college.

Investigators with Harris County Precinct 4 tell KPRC News that a shooting occurred at Lone Star College's North Harris campus shortly after 12 noon local time on Tuesday.

Authorities have yet to give a number in terms of subjects or victims, but deputy constables say they have at least one person detained. Additionally, a second person of interest is reported to have fled the scene and is being chased by police.

Eyewitnesses tell KTRK News that several gunshots were heard this afternoon outside of a classroom. The school has since ordered the campus and other area schools to be locked down, but the network says they believe there are at least three victims. At least one person has been taken to a local hospital, and a SWAT team has been called to the scene.

According to CNN, police are still looking for the shooter or shooters, and the identity of the one person detained has not been revealed.
