Mining magnate stands trial on corruption charges

Liu Bokun, former chairman of the Xinjiang Shenhua Ming Co. Ltd, was tried on charges of corruption, bribe-taking and embezzlement in Beijing Second Intermediate People’s Court on Jan.21.
Liu, aged 57, embezzled and accepted public funds and bribes of over 35 million yuan by taking advantage of his position during his time in office from April 2004 to December 2008.
Liu made a full confession of guilt in court while the judgment or sentence has yet to be announced.
